A Christmas Story I wrote

          Here is a Christmas I finished writing a couple days ago. I hope you like it!:

  A Christmas Short Story:

In antique store Friday afternoon.

Sue: Wow! This is perfect. Carrie: Seriously? A shark’s tooth? Your gonna’ have to do better than that. Sue: Well… I don’t know. He likes ocean – uhh...stuff. Carrie: It’s Christmas time. Come on Sue. Just because he has one little bag of shark’s teeth, from his science class on his desk, doesn’t mean that’s the thing he wants for Christmas. Sue: I know…I need to think. It’s just so hard. Daniel is still young but not quite as little as he used to be. A couple years ago I could just buy him these nice little, or big toys and he loved them more than a lot of things. If I got him that now he wouldn’t like it quite as much, but he would never show anything negative about a present I might get him. I want to get him something I know he likes. Hey, what do you think about this? Carrie: Has he ever shown any signs of liking baseball? Sue: I guess not. Carrie: Than a baseball glove wouldn’t do him much good would it?....... Sue? Sue! Sue: He has always wanted a snow globe. This one has his favorite bird in it, and it’s antique. Carrie: We are in an antique store after all. Sue: I’m buying it! It is only…uhh…forty dollars? I’m still buying it. Carrie: There you go. Did my assistance help? Sue: Thank you for your criticisms…..or helpfulness. I would like to buy this please. Cashier: This is beautiful. Would you like me to Christmas wrap this? Sue: How much? Carrie: Yes, we would like it wrapped! Sue: Carrie! Cashier: That’ll be no extra cost. Sue: Thank you. Cashier: Have a good Christmas. Carrie: You to!


Friday night in Sue’s house.

Sue and her son Daniel singing together: “Hark! the herald angels sing, glory to the newborn King!” Sue: That was beautiful Daniel. Daniel: What’s your favorite Christmas song? Sue: Well, there are so many. I can’t choose between the one we just sang, or “O Come All Ye Faithful,” or “Joy to the World,” or “The First Noel,” or…I don’t know. I love em’ all. What’s yours? Daniel: I don’t know either. It’s three days till Christmas Eve! Sue: That’s right sport. You get to open one present on Christmas Eve. By the way, you did a wonderful job helping me decorate the Christmas tree. You have your father’s touch. Daniel: Mom, I know you did at first, but…Do you still miss Dad? Because I do. Sue: Oh honey, of course I do. I still love him dearly, and I always will. I wanted to tell you something. Your father was a much better spiritual leader than I am, and I know I should go to church more often. It is just, I don’t know. I suppose I am just lazy. Daniel: Your not lazy Mom. You work harder than anyone I know. Sometimes I wish you could work less. Sue: I’m so sorry Daniel. I love you. I need to get my priorities straight I know. Are you tired? Daniel: I’m getting tired. Sue: Well I suppose you can wash you face with the gentle soap, and then brush your teeth…and then floss! I love you Daniel. I need to do the same. Well minus the gentle soap part. Daniel: Okay Mom. I love you to. Sue: Come downstairs when you’re done to say goodnight. I will try to hurry. You surely don’t have to though.



Sunday morning in Sue’s house.

Good morning Daniel. Daniel: Morning Mom. Sue: I would like to go to Sunday school today. Do you mind skipping the service? Daniel: No Mom. Sue: It just helps me retain our pastor’s Sunday school message better. Daniel: I understand. I’ll brush my teeth…and tounge, and get ready for church. Thank you Mom. Sue: I love you so much.

After Church on Sunday. Riding in the car.

Sue: Did you enjoy your Sunday school lesson Daniel? Daniel: Yes, part of it was actually about my name…well, who you said you and Dad named me after. Made me feel kinda’ bad. Daniel was such a good person. I wish I could be so faithful and trustworthy. Sue: You are very trustworthy, and faithful. God will forgive you for your sins as long as you ask Him. Please never let that thought leave your mind. And you can be faithful to God everyday by being kind, and setting out Bible tracts, and studying His word is very important to do every day, and meditating on His word. All the little things like that. They really are not that little. Daniel: I do want to be a better person. Sue: You’re a good boy Daniel.


Christmas Eve night.

Sue: Okay Daniel! We can open one present each. But first, well. Do you want hot chocolate? Daniel: Of course! Sue: Good. Do you think it’s faster to boil with the stove or microwave? Daniel: Microwave! Sue: Let’s go. Two minutes and thirty seconds for each cup of water. *Time Passed* Sue: Marshmellows? Daniel: Yes ma’am. Sue: Don’t burn yourself. Okay…It’s time. Pick which present you want to open. Daniel: hmmm…This one. Now Mom, pick which present you want to open. Sue: Welll…I’ll do this one for tonight. Oh Daniel! How did you get another one of Alison’s CDs for me? Daniel: Lucy took me out Christmas shopping. I know that you always want another Alison Krauss CD. Sue: Lucy is a nice girl, and you are very smart. I can’t wait to listen to it. Daniel: Mom! This is beautiful! I love Red Cardinals, and snow. I love snow globes. Thank you Mom. Sue: Your welcome. It is from the antique store. In a way, Carrie helped me pick it out. Daniel, I wanted to tell you. I will try…well I won’t stay at work for as long. You will understand though if I have to stay at work for longer? Daniel: Of course Mom. Sue: Thank you, and don’t worry. I’ll keep Lucy’s pay just the same, even though she might not be with you for as long. I love you. Daniel: I love you to. Sue: Do you want to sing a Christmas song? Daniel: Sure. Sue: Which one? Daniel: Let’s sing…”O Come All Ye Faithful.” Sue: I love that one. It was already marked in our hymnal. Okay. 1,2,3: Sue and Daniel singing together: “O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant; O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem! Come and behold Him – born the King of angels! O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him- Christ, the Lord!”

The Unpardonable Sin

    I ordered ITL (Invintation To Listen) cards from BBN (Bible Broadcasting Network).
And BBN e-mailed me telling my order was confirmed, and to give out my ITL card personally, and tings like that. I noticed that who emailed me from BBN was a BBN Biblical adviser.  And I was reading in my Bible and found something titled "The Unpardonable Sin."  Then I e-mailed the kind Biblical adviser, and his response was very good. Here are the e-mails:

Since you are a part of BBN Biblical counseling I wanted to ask you what is meant by Mark 3: 28-30


"Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."

The Unpardonable Sin

“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”


I think I understand what this means. I have never meant to blaspheme the Holy Spirit ever, but I might have on accident, and I have asked the Lord to forgive me. I am confused. I just read this in my Bible.

"What is the unpardonable sin / unforgivable sin?"


The case of the “unpardonable sin/unforgivable sin” or “blasphemy of the Holy Spirit” is mentioned in Mark 3:22-30 and Matthew 12:22-32. The term “blasphemy” may be generally defined as “defiant irreverence.” We would apply the term to such sins as cursing God or willfully degrading things relating to Him. It is also attributing some evil to God, or denying Him some good that we should attribute to Him. This case of blasphemy, however, is a specific one called “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit” in Matthew 12:31. In this passage, the Pharisees, having witnessed irrefutable proof that Jesus was working miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit, claimed instead that He was possessed by the demon Beelzebub (Matthew 12:24). In Mark 3:30, Jesus is very specific about what exactly they did to commit “the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.”


There were four essential conditions that constituted the unpardonable sin.

1. The unpardonable sinner had to be alive during the time that Jesus lived on the earth.

2. The unpardonable sinner had to witness Jesus performing a miracle.

3. The unpardonable sinner had to attribute this miraculous power to Beelzebub.

4. The unpardonable sin had to be committed before the day of Pentecost.

While blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is still a grave sin, it is no longer an unpardonable sin. 1 John 1:7 says, "the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." This specific unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit cannot be duplicated today.

Many people fear they have committed some sin that God cannot or will not forgive, and they feel there is no hope for them, no matter what they do. Satan would like nothing better than to keep us laboring under this misconception. The truth is that if a person has this fear, he/she needs only to come before God, confess that sin, repent of it, and accept God’s promise of forgiveness. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9). This verse assures us that God is ready to forgive any sin—no matter how heinous—if we come to Him in repentance. If you are suffering under a load of guilt today, God is waiting with His arms open in love and compassion for you to come to Him. He will never disappoint or fail to pardon those who do.

Thank you so kindly for your gracious words.

This text has confused many through the years, and I must admit the first time I came across it after I had been saved, it threw me for a loop, because I didn't understand the context of it. Our Savior obviously had not yet gone to the cross when He made this statement, since after His completed work there for us, the Scriptures say many times that the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin. Paul spoke to the unbelieving Jews in Acts 13:38-39 and told them that in Christ is the forgiveness of sins, and all who believe on Him are justified from all things. From this, it seems clear that today once a person has believed in Christ and has His perfect work applied to us, we are forgiven and justified from all sin.

But even more, you mentioned that you may have on accident blasphemed the Spirit. I used to think something such as this may be possible as well, Hannah, but no one accidentally blasphemes anyone, certainly not the Holy Spirit. This refers to a state of heart that issues out in hateful and wicked speech, it is first an attitude of heart, then the words come from the heart. We remember that the Pharisees that hated our Savior were the ones that drew this warning from Him. Their hatred was so deep for Him, that though they knew better, they openly attributed His miraculous works that were obviously from the power of God's Spirit, to Satan instead. It would be hard to imagine more fierce hatred and hardheartedness that that. Also, He said they were in danger of such a fate, not that they were definitely going to suffer it. Even though they hated Him, our Savior still loved the world including them, and just as He prayed for forgiveness for His murderers from the cross, so He may have been here seeking to wake them up to the danger of their spiritual condition before it was too late for them then.

Anyway, we know that since that time Jesus has completed the work of our salvation, and once we have trusted Him, we know we have eternal life that of course, can never be taken away. Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sin. We just need to believe He did, repent and ask him forgiveness for each of our horrible sins, and He will forgive us.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
